I created my career by overcoming obstacles. I've found if I challenge myself, a door I never expected opens up. As an accountant with a degree from Northeastern University, I decided I needed to get over my fear of public speaking. I trained to become a fitness instructor and challenged my fear head-on. What I didn't realize at the time was that I would discover a love of movement. I excelled at teaching and became passionate about health and fitness. This path lead me to go deeper into the research of movement and I discovered the field of Occupational Therapy. I entered into the Master's program for OT at Tufts University and embarked on a career working with patients with a variety of problems from cardiac issues, stroke, and hip and knee replacements. I found an obstacle in the health care system, however. It was difficult with our current system to stay with a client to get them back to the full levels of functioning that I desired. I continued my desire to explore body movement more, I began taking Pilates classes and realized how beautifully Pilates and Occupational Therapy principles mesh. I became a Pilates instructor and haven't looked back since. I taught for five years at what was one of the top Pilates studio in Boston area at the time, and became fully certified through the Stott Training Center in Hamilton, MA. I am now an instructor trainer for Stott and teach new instructors how to integrate the principles that I've learned with the repertoire of Pilates.
In September of 2007 I challenged myself again, I wanted to create an environment where my philosophies of body work and rehab principles could mesh together to create the best training environment for my clients. Through a bit of serendipity I found a beautiful space in downtown Newburyport, MA and I've been off and running ever since.

A passion for people, education, and movement has guided my career path since graduating cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1991. After working for a year in London, I returned home and began a graduate degree in Education at the University of Cincinnati. Simultaneously, I became certified to teach group exercise classes. While in graduate school I became the Director of Group Exercise for a large health club and then moved on to manage a very progressive movement studio.
I came to Massachusetts and joined the faculty at the prestigious Shore Country Day School, but continued to teach fitness classes of every type. I was teaching all day, all night, and on the weekends -- and loving it! I was introduced to pilates first through the PhysicalMind method and then found my way to STOTT PILATES, a method whose sound biomechanical basis and respect for individualizing exercises completely won me over. It is incredibly satisfying to work with clients and witness the profound changes that come from strengthening the core of who we are.
I became an Instructor Trainer for STOTT PILATES, teaching all levels of Matwork as well as equipment-based repertoire to aspiring instructors. I earned certification in personal training from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, group certification from the American Council on Exercise, became a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance, a faculty member of the Yogaspirit Teacher Training Program, trained in Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic, am a national presenter for STOTT PILATES at fitness conferences, and most recently earned certification as a Holistic Health Counselor through the Teacher's College at Columbia University and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I am passionate about "adding life to your years" through true health and wellness and it gives me enormous joy to share that with my clients.
